Design Review Meeting for ADANI 0.5 MTPA Greenfield Copper Refinery Complex Project Is Successfully Held
In mid October, the Delegation of Kutch Copper Limited of Adani Enterprises Group, India (hereinafter referred to as “KCL”) visited China Nerin to carry out the design review meeting of the 0.5 MTPA Greenfield Copper Refinery Complex Project. Mr. Nilanjan Mukherji, General Manager of KCL smelter, Mr. Rakesh Patel, General Manager of KCL refinery, Mr. Wu Runhua, General Manager and Mr. Tang Zunqiu, Chief Technology Officer and other key team members of the project participated in the meeting, where the schemes of processes and equipment are thoroughly discussed.

As one of the World Top 500 Enterprises, Adani Group is the biggest port developer and operator in India, running Mundra Port - the largest commercial port in India. It is also an energy giant - one of the global largest photovoltaic power generation operators. The undergoing 0.5 MTPA Greenfield Copper Refinery Complex Project in Kutch, Gujarat with the technology of Flash Smelting Furnace + Peirce Smith Converter, is scheduled to be commissioned in 2024, which will become one of the biggest copper complexes with a single line in the world and will surely attract the attention of the global copper industry after its completion.
During the visit, KCL Delegation had all-around communications with China Nerin’s project team on the project schedule, design quality, equipment supply and the future production management, etc., and paid visits to the big copper complex designed by China Nerin and the equipment fabrication base of China Nerin.
Since August 2021 when China Nerin was awarded the Engineering Service Order and the Proprietary Equipment Purchase Order of the project, both parties have worked in a very supportive and cooperative way with mutual understanding to overcome the difficulties during the epidemic and in progress schedule, construction conditions and cultural differences. Through frequent virtual communications and discussions on various process and technical points, the basic engineering design of the Smelter, Refinery, Sulfuric Acid Plant and Gas Cleaning Plant are completed on after another. The detailed engineering of the project and the basic engineering of the Precious Metals Plant are progressing as per the schedule, and the construction of most of the civil foundations are accomplished at the project site.

KCL Delegation highly appraised the engineering design deliverables provided by China Nerin and gave high recognition and confidence in respect of the professionalism and technological knowledge of China Nerin.

In the process of the project implementation, owing to the specialization and quality service, China Nerin has also achieved successively the Purchase Orders of supplies of critical process equipment for the main smelting and refining plants, including Cyclone Smelting Burner, Lost-in-Weight Devices, Dynawave Scrubbing Device and Mercury Removal Device for the Gas Cleaning Plant, Peirce Smelter Converters, Anode Furnaces, Casting Wheels, and Tank House Special Cranes and Bales, Anode Preparation Machines, Robotic Cathode Stripping Machines, Anode Scrap Washing Machines, etc. A number of equipment with China Nerin’s independent R&D proprietary rights will be exported to the Indian market for the first time, bringing exports of a big number of Chinese large equipment, which will be a new contribution to upgrading the international influences of China’s technology and equipment in the global nonferrous metals industry.
