First Batch of Copper Cathode Produced from Sicmines Copper-Cobalt Mine Project Phase 2 Designed by China Nerin
At 11:18 AM, June 30, local time in the DRC, the first batch of cathode copper was successfully produced from Sicmines Copper-Cobalt Mine Project Phase 2. It marks all the production processes of the project have been completed and the project has been officially ready for hot commissioning.
When Sicmines Copper-Cobalt Mine Project Phase 2 reaches its designed capacity, the annual ore throughput will be 9.1 million tons, the annual cathode copper and cobalt hydroxide output will be 253,500 tons and 5,180 tons, which makes Sicmines Copper-Cobalt Mine the only modern mine in DRC consisting of mining, processing, metallurgy, and roasting for acid production. China Nerin has designed the process plant of the project and supplied the automatic cathode stripping machine and the precise-positioning automatic crane for the metallurgy plant.. Since its detailed engineering design in January 2020, China Nerin’s project team has worked together to overcome difficulties as heroes in harm’s way during the COVID-19 and provide strong technical support for the whole process of the project. The smooth progress of the project will further consolidate China Nerin's international leading position in copper and cobalt hydrometallurgy.
